Ruben Hayrapetyan has been a Russian citizen since 2003, Prosecutor's Office
According to data obtained from the criminal case, Ruben Hayrapetyan has been a Russian citizen since June 20, 2003. This was stated by Gor Abrahamyan, an advisor to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, in response to a question from Azatutyun.
Recently, it became known that Russia has stopped the search for Hayrapetyan on its territory. The Prosecutor's Office has requested clarifications from Russian law enforcement regarding the reasons for the termination of the search.
"We have not yet received clarifications from the Russian Prosecutor's Office regarding the cessation of the search for him in the Russian territory and the possible grounds for this decision. At this moment, we cannot say whether Mr. Hayrapetyan's citizenship of the Russian Federation was a basis for the decision to terminate the search," the Prosecutor's Office reported.
Ruben Hayrapetyan is accused in two criminal cases: one for causing physical pain or severe mental suffering to a citizen and illegal deprivation of liberty, as well as for self-defense; the second case involves abuse of power leading to serious consequences and encouraging such abuse as a supervising officer in a company.
