VIDEO: Just like them, this 'charge' will vanish into thin air. Vanetsyan
I was invited to the NSS in connection with a ridiculous case, I hold no status. This was stated by the former director of the NSS and leader of the 'Homeland' party, Arthur Vanetsyan, after leaving the NSS today, during a conversation with journalists.
"I was invited to provide an explanation as part of the preparation of materials. I want to emphasize that I had no obligation to come, but I appeared out of respect for the institution and refused to provide an explanation. In reality, this case is about nothing; it is another fabricated case that pursues political goals, aimed at implementing some kind of criminal prosecution against me over the past eight months, in order to halt my active political engagement. You all know very well that the accusations voiced against me have not been confirmed by anyone. Just like them, this 'charge' will vanish into thin air," he said.
Addressing reports that Vanetsyan had met with Robert Kocharyan, the former NSS head said, "The information that I met with Robert Kocharyan has already been denied, but I do not exclude that there may be a meeting with all political forces and individuals in the future, which may include Robert Kocharyan, Serzh Sargsyan, and Levon Ter-Petrosyan as well."
To a remark that when he was NSS director, he accused representatives of the former government, including Robert Kocharyan, of being buried in corruption and undermining the constitutional order, Vanetsyan responded, "That question is not relevant; political processes imply meetings with all political forces and individuals."
To the comment that Robert Kocharyan said that he does not rule out that the people could change the government a second time by blocking the streets, and whether the people will unite around the opposition and take such a step, Vanetsyan replied, "I am absolutely convinced that there will be very active political processes in the near future, during which we will see the developments that will occur. In fact, the country is in a very difficult and severe situation. The authorities have failed in all directions of their work. We are facing a health crisis, an economic crisis, and many other issues that exist in our country. Instead of resolving these issues today, the authorities are focused on silencing their political opponents."
