The Meeting with the Constitutional Court Judge Candidate Vahram Avetisyan and the My Step Group Was Heated

Details have emerged from the closed-door meeting that took place between Vahram Avetisyan, the candidate for the Constitutional Court judge nominated by the government, and members of the National Assembly’s My Step faction yesterday. According to our information, the meeting was quite tense and lasted about three hours.

Almost all the MPs directed questions to Avetisyan, including politically charged inquiries to determine, for example, whether elections have been falsified up to now, or how he relates to political processes. Vahram Avetisyan provided very brief and evasive answers to almost all questions.

The newspaper learned that during the meeting, the MPs also inquired about his father, Gavith Avetisyan, who was involved in decisions regarding several cases of March 1. However, Vahram Avetisyan stated that he does not see anything negative or a conflict of interest in his father’s actions.

It should be noted that although Constitutional Court judge Vahe Grigoryan has lobbied negatively among many members of My Step to not elect Avetisyan, many MPs understood yesterday that he is determined and will not retreat any further.

Moreover, within the ruling faction, there are also MPs who are positively inclined towards Avetisyan and some neutrals who do not care who the government proposes; they will definitely vote.
