83-Year-Old Man Attempts to Kill Villager in Lichq
On the morning of July 30, the Martuni police department received a report of a gunshot heard in the village of Lichq. Operational investigative teams that arrived at the scene carried out a series of reconnaissance and investigative measures, revealing several circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to preliminary data known to the investigation, an 83-year-old resident of Lichq fired with an illegal firearm. The target was a 62-year-old villager. The 83-year-old man held the gun at close range directed at the victim's face. At the moment of the gunfire, the 62-year-old man had bent down and survived the attack.
The shooter attempted to fire a second shot, but for unknown reasons, the weapon did not discharge. The 62-year-old man managed to seize the gun, which has since been confiscated. Expert examinations have been commissioned.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. The suspect has been taken to the Martuni police department. Further circumstances of the case, as well as the motive for the crime, are being clarified during the preliminary investigation.
Note: The suspect in the alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law, as stipulated by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, by a court's legally binding verdict.
