The Department for the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency and Domestic Violence received operational information regarding a man from the Kotayk region who allegedly bought a newborn girl for $1500 from one of the maternity hospitals in the Ararat region with the intention of adoption on July 9.

According to the police press service, it was revealed that the man had reached an agreement through a mutual acquaintance with a woman living in the Ararat region who gave birth on July 9. After the delivery, they submitted false information to the civil status registration office in the city of Vedi, based on which the child was given the surname of a man who is not the biological father.

It was also found that the man had given several tens of thousands of drams to the mother of the child, promising that he would pay her more money later. Other circumstances of the case are being investigated.
