Pashinyan Responds to Margarita Simonian's Comments on 'Ungrateful Armenia'
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has responded to a statement by RT's editor-in-chief Margarita Simonian regarding 'ungrateful Armenia' in an interview with RBK. The Prime Minister emphasized that the true ally of Russia in Armenia is the Armenian people, rather than individual political figures. Organizations that consider Russia a hostile country have been operating since the times of presidents who had no doubts about loyalty in Russia.
Pashinyan pointed out that Margarita Simonian's statement has received a sharply negative reaction in Armenia. 'Armenia has not yet recognized the independence of Artsakh. Does this mean we do not support Artsakh? No,' Pashinyan stated, also highlighting that Armenia and Artsakh constitute a single security space.
In response to Simonian's complaints regarding the arrest of former President Robert Kocharyan, Pashinyan remarked that it is not individual politicians who are allies of Russia, but the entire Armenian nation. 'Russia should understand that in Armenia, the ally of Russia is not Pashinyan, Petrosyan, Poghossyan, Sargsyan, or Kocharyan, but the Armenian people. This is a very important nuance,' the Prime Minister said. He added that many figures have long presented themselves as the sole allies of Russia, while the actual partner of Russia is the Armenian people.
