One victim with a broken jaw, another with a head injury: Zartonki village head on yesterday's incident

In Zartonki village of Armavir Province, an extraordinary incident occurred yesterday, July 27, when a group of individuals, who are supporters of the former village head, attacked and assaulted the village head's deputy, Suren Poghosyan.

Samvel Aghajanyan, the head of Zartonki community, stated that his deputy is currently in the hospital: "They did a CT scan (CAT), initially suspecting a broken hand, but it turned out the head was broken; they stitched his head, but he is still in the hospital. Five others were also attacked. One person has a broken jaw, another has a head injury, someone was hit hard on the spine, and another is bedridden at the hospital in Metsamor, his condition is serious." This information is reported by ArmDaily.am.

Poghosyan mentioned in an interview with shamshyan.com that the former village head, Paruyr Sargsyan, lost the elections, and now the former associates are fighting against him, constantly creating incidents, even a stabbing has occurred. The community head noted that this is not the first incident: "There have been many such cases. We have appealed to the police, but no solution has been provided. The materials go to the appropriate investigative department, and that's where they end up."

When asked if he or his family members have ever been attacked, the village head replied that there have been no attacks against him or his family: "There haven't been any attacks on me or my family members. But there have been attacks; people's heads have been broken, blood has been shed, and there was even a case where two individuals were detained for four months."

Regarding the current situation in the village, Aghajanyan mentioned that the police are maintaining oversight: "There is relative calmness."

Edgar Janoyan, deputy head of the information department of the Police of Armenia, also reported that the police have received information about the incident: "Eight individuals have been detained; a criminal case has been initiated, and an investigation is underway."
