Criminal Case Opened Following Soldier's Death from Sniper Fire

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia reports that on July 27, 2020, at approximately 01:10, a contract soldier, Ashot Gevorgi Mikhailyan, sustained a gunshot wound to the throat from sniper fire originating from the enemy's combat position, while stationed at a military post of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia's Unit N.

The soldier succumbed to his injuries while being transported to a military hospital.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Military Investigative Main Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia under part 2, clauses 2 and 13 of Article 104 (murder) of the Criminal Code of Armenia. An investigation is ongoing.
