14-Year-Old Boy Found Dead After Falling into Canal in Verin Dvin
In Verin Dvin village, the body of a 14-year-old boy who fell into a canal has been discovered today, July 27. This was reported to NEWS.am by community leader Lyudmila Petrov.
Earlier, she shared details of the incident with us: “He went swimming in the canal with 3 friends. According to one of his friends, the boy did not know how to swim. He tried to learn and recounted that they went under the water, came back up, and saw that the child seemed to be drowning. After that, he went underwater and they lost sight of him. They ran to the boy's home, but the father was not there; the mother and sister called the rescue service.”
We had previously reported that on July 27 at 17:09, a call was received at the National Crisis Management Center stating that a child had fallen into a canal in the Verin Dvin area and assistance from rescuers was needed. An operational group from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' Ararat regional rescue department and a firefighting unit were dispatched to the scene.
