Video: You are not doing a good thing. Discussions on social media about Armenians beating Azerbaijanis
The former head of the Armenian National Assembly's press service, Knyaz Saroyan, wrote on his Facebook page: "While it is not too late, there should be a call from the highest levels of power to our compatriots abroad to stop these 'beating Azerbaijanis' actions, as everything already shows signs of getting out of control. The practice of beating people in a foreign country is not ours; enthusiasm may have irreversible consequences in all respects. Raising a voice of protest, holding peaceful demonstrations, or responding to incited violence is one thing, but what is happening now is entirely different and does not serve our interests."
Daniel Ioannisyan, the founder of the 'Informed Citizens' NGO, program coordinator, and member of the Public Council, also commented on this topic: "Yes, one can and should defend oneself. Yes, one can and should remind an armed attacker of their mother-in-law. But please, do not beat a peaceful Azerbaijani protester; it brings no honor. By beating a peaceful person on national soil anywhere in the world, we weaken our claims that we are noble, that they are the ones attacking innocent civilians. It is Azerbaijan that shows courage against the peaceful inhabitants of border villages. It is Azerbaijani soldiers who are shooting elderly people in Talish and cutting off ears. It is Azerbaijan that glorifies killing a sleeping man with a hatchet. We, as a state and as citizens, are above this; we are stronger than this; we are the victors."
Facebook user Maxim Sargsyan also wrote: "No, guys, you are not doing a good thing. Attacking a bloodied person with 60 people is not patriotism, guys. It is a road that leads nowhere, brothers."
Earlier, a video circulated on social media showing a group of Armenians beating Azerbaijanis.
