Prisoner Injures Two Officers and Self-Harms at Artik Penitentiary

A serious incident occurred last night at the Artik penitentiary. An inmate attacked prison officers, injuring one officer's neck before engaging in self-harm. The life of the officer is not in jeopardy.

Nona Navikyan, head of the public relations department of the Penitentiary Service, responded to an inquiry from ArmDaily.am stating, “On July 21, a convict held at the Ministry of Justice's Artik penitentiary was isolated for violating internal regulations. Using a prohibited but not categorized as contraband disposable razor blade, this individual unintentionally caused minor bodily harm to two officers performing their official duties and subsequently self-harmed. The convict received immediate medical assistance.”

Materials are being prepared at the territorial division of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia regarding the incident.
