Our Army is Fully Established: Tonoyan Succeeds in Keeping the Military Clear of Political Exploitation - 'Pasta'
'Pasta' newspaper writes: 'In any country, it is extremely important for the military to be an established, exclusively professional body so that it can fully perform its functions and protect the country’s borders in the event of any enemy encroachment. And, thank God, the Armenian army is such; it has been fully established over the past thirty years, independent of internal political processes. Experts believe that history shows that otherwise, there is a great temptation for political authorities to appropriate, politicize, or personalize victories.
Moreover, as painful as it is, individuals who have nothing to do with the army sometimes try to gather political or personal dividends at the army’s expense. However, no political force, including and primarily the authorities, has the right to pursue political dividends and even more so to reap the brilliant results recorded by the army.
However, in favor of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Davit Tonoyan, it should be noted that he has succeeded in keeping the military free from such manipulations, avoiding attempts or 'efforts' to exclusively associate success with the realities of the 'new Armenia' or a single individual. The responsibility is entirely on the military, and our army is fully established, strong, and powerful. The minister’s conduct is extremely important, as in any case, one cannot simply humiliate the army, the soldier, or the general.'
