Applicants and Their Parents Hold Protest Near the GTC Building
Applicants protesting against the admission procedures of higher educational institutions and their parents are holding a protest today, July 21, near the GTC building.
“I took the exam in the subject of Armenian History and received a score of 15.75. Out of the 9 faculties I listed in my application (law), I scored higher than at least 20 people's scores in all but the last one, and in some places, the scores are even 40-50. However, I was accepted only into the last place I mentioned, while in the fourth place I listed, 5 people were accepted with a score of 7.5. I have been calling the hotline for two days to receive answers to my questions, but unfortunately, there is no reasonable explanation. Today they said, ‘Go to the GTC commission; they will provide a solution to your question.’ However, the so-called commission consists of one person who, upon hearing the questions, merely states, ‘What can we do? We did not formulate these laws.’ We have not been left with any other option; there is no one in authority who is willing to listen to hundreds, if not thousands, of people like me. We have to unite; we are the solution to our problem. Everything begins with education,” their statement reads.
