Major Accident in Syunik Province Involves Former Governor of Vayots Dzor
Today, on July 19, a serious car accident occurred in Syunik Province. This is reported by SHAMSHYAN.com.
At around 6:00 PM, in the area of the tunnel at the beginning of the city of Kapan, for reasons still unknown, a collision occurred between a Mercedes-Benz G-450, driven by 57-year-old Aragats Saghatelyan, a resident of Vayots Dzor region, with license plate number 555 OO 55, and an Opel vehicle driven by 50-year-old Vache Sargsyan, with license plate number 35 AV 650.
As a result of the accident, both drivers and one passenger were taken to Kapan Medical Center with bodily injuries. The doctors of Kapan Hospital and the Emergency Situations Ministry's Rescue Service from Kapan's 54th fire and rescue squad acted promptly. Before transferring the injured to the hospital, doctors provided first aid on-site.
Following the collision, the Mercedes flipped over. Emergency response was initiated by the second battalion of the second company of the Road Police, led by Battalion Commander Gegham Margaryan.
The information about the accident was passed on to the Kapan division of the police by Ervand Aleksanyan, the responsible officer at the Road Police 1-77 operational management center, from where an operational group arrived, headed by the day’s responsible officer.
According to the site, driver A. Saghatelyan is a former city mayor of Vayk and a former governor of Vayots Dzor. His health condition is reported to be moderate, and the Mercedes is registered under the balance of “Jermuk Group” LLC.
