Smart Child, Unclear Cause of Death; Investigation Underway, Says Areni Mayor About Deceased Soldier

The 20-year-old conscript soldier, Alik Manukyan, who was found dead in the military unit today, was from the Areni community in Vayots Dzor region and had 6 months left until his discharge. Areni Mayor Husik Sahakyan informed NEWS.am about this.

He mentioned that Alik has one sister and that his parents are divorced. "He was a very smart, promising child, and there is still no clear cause of death; an investigation is ongoing," Sahakyan noted.

Earlier, we reported that on July 18, around 14:00, a conscript soldier, Private Alik Norairi Manukyan, was found in the area of responsibility of the Armenian Ministry of Defense's military unit, with a gunshot wound (born in 2000, drafted in 2019, from Vayots Dzor). Private Alik Manukyan died on the way to the hospital. An investigation is being conducted to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
