Seven More Criminal Cases Opened for Shelling Civilian Population in Tavush
As previously reported, from July 12 to 16, 2020, the Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire using heavy artillery, mortars, and other weaponry towards several settlements in the Tavush region and Armenian military positions, resulting in damage. Based on these incidents, the Investigative Committee of Armenia initiated 30 criminal cases under various articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, including based on clauses regarding national hatred, endangering life, and deliberately causing fatal harm to two or more persons.
On July 17, 2020, an additional seven criminal cases were initiated under the specified articles, and investigations are ongoing. Thus, a total of 37 criminal cases are being examined by the Investigative Committee concerning the gross violations of the ceasefire by the Azerbaijani armed forces and the shelling of the peaceful population in various settlements of the Tavush region with weapons of different calibers. Large-scale investigative and procedural actions continue in relation to these cases.
