I Have Come to Thank You All: The President Visits the Military Hospital
President Armen Sarkissian visited the Central Clinical Military Hospital of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia today, where a group of servicemen who sustained varying degrees of injuries from the weapons used by Azerbaijani forces during combat service in the Tavush section of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border are receiving treatment.
Accompanied by Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan and Head of the Military Medicine Directorate of the RA Armed Forces Sahak Ohanyan, the president visited the servicemen, inquired about their health and treatment, and wished them a speedy recovery. Representatives of the medical staff presented the health status and recovery progress of the servicemen.
Armen Sarkissian spoke with the servicemen and their parents who are in the hospital. The president noted that our people take pride in their army, its brave soldiers, officers, and generals, and he is confident that any attempt by the enemy to encroach upon our territory is doomed to failure because of them.
The President expressed gratitude to the servicemen for their efforts and courage in serving and protecting the homeland, wishing them good health. President Sarkissian stated that regardless of perceptions of the situations and their responses, regardless of praise and criticism, and irrespective of various viewpoints, the true and real shapers of history are indeed the servicemen, to whom we all owe our peace and security.
"I have come to thank you all, and also to remember your comrades who gave their lives. Stay strong. The entire nation is concerned about your health. You are our protectors," emphasized President Sarkissian.
"You are heroes. We can discuss many things, make calls, but what you have done will remain in history. Just as what was accomplished in the April War, in the 1990s... You will remain the heroes who held our country's flag high. Be healthy and strong. Know that you are those who have left your mark in history, showing that no one can defeat our army.
The war unleashed by Azerbaijan today is a gross violation of human rights. While all countries in the world are engaged in another war called coronavirus, our neighbors have decided to start a war under these circumstances. Our neighbors do not respect human rights to the extent that they are taking such actions. What the enemy has done is a violation of all human values, of written and unwritten rules."
The president indicated that he is constantly in touch with his counterparts abroad, leaders of different countries, heads of international organizations, and representatives of the Armenian diaspora, providing them with unofficial updates on the situation.
"Do not doubt that as president, I will do everything to support the Prime Minister, the government, the Minister of Defense, and the entire army, so that you recover as soon as possible and that our army stands even stronger," said President Sarkissian.
