It Has Been Revealed That the 62-Year-Old Woman Did Not Die of Natural Causes: A Criminal Case Has Been Launched
The Investigative Committee of Armenia reports that a criminal case has been initiated under the features of murder regarding the death of a 62-year-old woman.
Investigations are being conducted by the Vedi Investigative Department of the Ararat Regional Investigative Administration to clarify the circumstances surrounding the murder of a 62-year-old resident of the rural community of Ararat.
On July 14, 2020, a call was received from the “Ararat Medical Center” LLC, stating that a 62-year-old resident of the rural community of Ararat had suddenly died. According to initial data and statements from the woman’s relatives, they went to her home after learning that she did not answer phone calls and found her in the bathroom, lying on her back.
After preparing documents regarding the incident, taking statements, and conducting an examination of the crime scene, a forensic expert performed an autopsy. It was determined that the woman did not die of natural causes; rather, her death resulted from asphyxiation due to external compression of the neck and thoracic organs. Additionally, external examination of the body revealed various abrasions and contusions on different parts.
Considering that the materials contain legal grounds and cause for initiating a criminal case, one has been launched under the first part of Article 104 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (murder). The case has been forwarded to the Vedi Investigative Department of the Ararat Regional Investigative Administration for further investigation, and it has been accepted for proceedings.
The preliminary investigation has been entrusted to an investigative group, which has carried out several investigative actions, including an additional examination of the crime scene and questioning several individuals. The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Urgent investigative and other procedural actions and operational-search measures are being implemented to clarify all circumstances of the case.
