Aliyev Expresses Discontent with Mamedyarov's Conduct, Calls Him Irresponsible
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the country's Foreign Minister, Elmar Mamedyarov. Azerbaijani media report that during a government meeting today, Aliyev stated, “During the escalation of the situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border on July 12, the entire leadership of the country was at their workplaces, except for the Foreign Minister. I could not find him.”
Aliyev criticized Mamedyarov's conduct, labeling him as irresponsible. During a video conference with ministers, he expressed his discontent to the Prime Minister, Ali Asadov, who had commented on why Mamedyarov was not present at his workplace after the events of July 12, explaining that the Foreign Minister was working from home.
“What was the Foreign Minister doing? Where was he? We were at our workplaces after the events of July 12. The Prime Minister was at his workplace, and I was working until the morning. I could not find the Foreign Minister. I asked Ali Asadov where he was. What did he tell you? Tell me,” said Aliyev. In response, Asadov stated that Mamedyarov was working from home. He also mentioned that he had been working from home and had heard about the events at the border with Armenia at around 3 PM.
