At the Time of the Mortar Shelling, Four Children Were at Home: Naira Zohrabyan
GNC MP Naira Zohrabyan wrote on her Facebook page: “At the time of the shelling in Chinar, four children were present in the damaged house. While our heroic police are using violence against representatives of ‘VETO’ and ‘Adequate’ and citizens of the Republic of Armenia by dragging them on the asphalt, the border tension continues.
Just earlier, 3 shells of 120 mm caliber and 7 shells of 82 mm caliber were fired towards the border village of Chinar, damaging one of the houses. I spoke with the mayor of Chinar, Samvel Sagoyan, who mentioned that the outbuilding of one house was damaged, as well as the windows of another house were broken and the glass shattered. At the time of the mortar fire, the four children and their mother were home, who, fortunately, are unharmed.
Residents of border villages already know how to take cover in the basements of their homes and in the village bomb shelter at the first sign of danger. The residents of Chinar have now emerged from the bomb shelter, as the shelling of the village has ceased.
As the Chairman of the Permanent Commission on Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly, I have appealed to European institutions and the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, urging them to respond to the military provocations carried out by member state Azerbaijan.”
