Maximum Speed Limit of 60 km/h May Change if Expected Results are Not Achieved, Armenian Police State

WRed

On July 7, the police issued a statement announcing that starting from July 18, there will be changes in road traffic organization in several streets of the capital.

In various streets of Yerevan, the maximum speed limit will be reduced to 60 km/h. The stretches affected include Isakova Avenue, Tbilisi Highway, Monte Melkonyan, Acharian, Davit Bek streets, Myasnikyan Avenue, Saralanj Street, and Ashtarak Highway.

Clarifications on the matter were provided by the Deputy Head of the Road Police, Police Colonel Arman Chilingaryan. This change indicates that studies were previously conducted, which resulted in increased speed limits, and current assessments are leading to a revision and reduction of those limits.

It is natural that this change might not justify itself in the future, and in such case, either alternative measures should be implemented or a return to the former limits should be considered.
