Georgians Consider Russia More of a Friend Than Armenia
According to the results of the 'Caucasian Barometer' survey conducted by the Caucasian Research Resource Center in Georgia in 2020, only 2% of Georgians consider Armenia a friendly country, while 7% consider Azerbaijan as such.
In contrast, 21% of Georgians see the United States as their main ally, 10% view Ukraine favorably, 4% consider Turkey a friend, and 3% see Russia in a positive light. The European Union, Poland, and France receive a single percentage point each, while 16% report no country as a friend.
A 2013 study by the same center showed that Georgian attitudes towards Armenia have not changed in seven years; in both 2013 and 2020, only 2% viewed Armenia as a friend. However, trust in Azerbaijan has decreased slightly, from 8% in 2013 to 7% in 2020.
By 2020, trust in Russia has sharply declined, with only 3% considering it a friend compared to 7% in 2013. On the other hand, positive sentiment towards Ukraine has significantly increased, rising from 4% in 2013 to 10% in 2020. In 2013, 3% of Georgians viewed Turkey as a friend, while the figure for the US was 31%.
As of 2020, 4% of Armenians trust Georgia, an increase from 2% in 2013.
