Entry of Turkish Citizens into the EU is Forbidden; Cavusoglu Expressed Discontent

Ermenihaber reports that Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu has labeled the European Union's decision to keep entry restrictions for Turkish citizens 'political.' Cavusoglu asserted that the EU is behaving unjustly towards Turkey: 'Borders have been opened for certain countries despite their COVID-19 statistics not being favorable at all. However, because political relations with those countries are good, they have been given grace, which is a wrong step,' stated the Turkish minister.

It is worth noting that recently the European Union released a decision of advisory significance for member states, suggesting reopening borders for certain countries outside the Schengen zone. This decision, which will be effective from July 1, primarily allows citizens from Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, and Uruguay to enter.

Meanwhile, the previously imposed restrictions due to COVID-19 for Turkey, the USA, Russia, Brazil, and India remain applicable as the epidemic situation in these countries continues to be critical.
