We Want to Stop This Great Storm: Arthur Vanyanetsyan

Arthur Vanyanetsyan, the leader of the ‘Homeland’ party, has spoken about the necessity of restoring public solidarity. This was stated on the Facebook page of the ‘Homeland’ party.

Here is the full text:

“The period of Nikol Pashinyan's rule will go down in Armenian history as a time of uncertainty, spontaneous collapse, and misfortunes. In conditions of prevailing irresponsibility, disgraceful failures continue to be recorded in almost all sectors. However, there is a much more important issue than the failures and collapses of the current government.

The shattered economy can be restored, and the crumbling educational and social systems can be recreated without obstacles. It is even possible to rebuild relations with allied and friendly countries that have been overshadowed and damaged due to the government’s systematic incompetence. In other words, any area ruined by Pashinyan can be restored, provided that there is will, management capability, and the right people in place.

But what I want to talk about is not only extremely difficult to restore, but its decay can lead to irreversible consequences. I am talking about public solidarity. If it were strong, then the remaining issues (economic, social, defense, etc.) would be predictable and solvable, but the problem is that under Nikol Pashinyan's casual handling, public solidarity has been condemned to gradual decay and disintegration.

For two years now, with the consistent efforts of the Armenian authorities, a deep internal conflict is being unleashed in the internal environment. This is an invisible challenge, which causes the social framework to wear down and deplete smoothly. My prediction is that the final outcome of this process will be animosity between public groups and stratification of society. In other words, various opposing and conflicting environments are forming that will eventually clash in the physical realm. This means that ‘everyone is fighting against everyone,’ and it is precisely this uninterrupted ‘war’ that is the source of the ‘legitimacy’ of Pashinyan's government. This is an invisible challenge and much more dangerous than the hostile neighboring states against Armenia.

We know that Azerbaijan is a hostile state, and from this knowledge, the predictability of the challenge and our sequence of actions is formed. But we do not clearly know how severe the internal conflict within our society has become and what manifestations it may have.

Historical experience suggests that internal conflicts explode at the most unexpected moments, when nobody is waiting for them. Public solidarity is not an exalted and beautiful thing; it is the primary indicator of our state's resilience and vitality. Without solidarity, the Republic of Armenia is doomed. Perhaps this is the primary message I want to convey to everyone – citizens, friends, opponents, and my stubborn critics. We want to stop this great storm and bring solidarity to our state. After the storm, there must be peace; after chaos, there must be order; and after madness, there must be reason.”
