International Football Tournament to be Held in Qatar in 2021

An international football tournament will take place in Qatar ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which is set to kick off next year. FIFA has confirmed the request from the Qatar Football Association to organize this international competition in December 2021.

The tournament will be friendly in nature and will serve as a primary test event in preparation for the World Cup in 2022. Teams from Arab countries in Asia and Africa are expected to participate.

Given the friendly status of the tournament, national teams will not be required to field their best players for these matches. The specific lineup of participating teams will be announced later, but according to Sport24, it is anticipated that 8 to 10 teams will take part, split into two groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.
