Defense Ministry's Military Police Uncovers Bribery Cases

On June 17, 2020, as a result of extensive operational investigative measures by employees of the Military Police of the Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Defense, it was established that citizen V.H. met with a certain R.M. in March 2018, who had previously worked in the Armenian Armed Forces. They agreed that R.M. would help exempt V.H.'s son from mandatory military service in exchange for $7,000. Subsequently, V.H. handed over $6,500 in cash to R.M. and promised to pay the remaining $500 later.

Following this incident, a criminal case was initiated on June 18, 2020, by the Military Police of the Republic of Armenia under the 3rd part of Article 34-312 and the 3rd part of Article 178 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.

On June 18, 2020, while implementing operational data, another instance of bribery was uncovered involving A.M., a former serviceman from military unit N. In November 2018, in order to conceal violations discovered in that military unit, A.M. demanded 600,000 AMD from Y.H. as a bribe to hide these violations without documentation. Eventually, Y.H. made a payment of 300,000 AMD to A.M. as an agreed bribe.

A criminal case was opened on June 22, 2020, by the Military Police of the Republic of Armenia under the 2nd part of Article 311 and the 2nd part of Article 312 of the Criminal Code.

On June 19, another bribery case was revealed, involving A.M. from military unit N, who, during a check of the material resources of the unit's supply warehouse in January 2016, discovered a deficit equivalent to 50,000 AMD. To avoid any action within his authority regarding this deficit, A.M. demanded and personally received 50,000 AMD as a bribe from S.S. in February 2016.

A criminal case was initiated on June 22, 2020, by the Military Police of the Republic of Armenia under the 1st part of Article 311 and the 1st part of Article 312 of the Criminal Code.
