Protesters Splash Paint Near Health Ministry in Paris
In France, over 159,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus since the outbreak began, and more than 29,000 have died.
In Paris, protesters splashed red paint in front of the health ministry building to symbolize those who have died as a result of COVID-19 and to highlight the poor conditions faced by healthcare workers.
According to CNN, most of the demonstrators were members of the French activist group 'Tax on Financial Transactions'. They criticized the government for the treatment of healthcare staff, even condemning proposals to award medals to medical workers.
“We are here to show our support for healthcare workers who have fought on the frontlines during the sanitary crisis, and to demand that they are finally provided with the necessary resources to work,” said a representative of the group.
