Explosion in Kyiv Apartment Building

An explosion occurred in a nine-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, leading to the destruction of four floors. 21 people have been evacuated. Rescue teams have found one victim under the rubble of the high-rise building. This was reported by bbc.com, citing Ukraine's State Emergency Service.

A total of 75 rescuers and 15 units of equipment have been involved in eliminating the consequences of the emergency situation. Law enforcement in Kyiv is considering two theories regarding the explosion—either a gas explosion or the detonation of an explosive device. This was stated by Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov.

“Two theories are being discussed: a gas explosion or an explosive device,” Avakov said. The samples collected at the scene have been sent for examination.
