Robbery Incident at Postal Station on February 3, 2020, Solved
The investigation into a robbery incident that took place on February 3, 2020, at a postal station in Armenia has been concluded. The inquiry was conducted by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia in the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district. Charges have been filed against two individuals in connection with the robbery, according to the committee’s information and public relations department.
It was revealed during the investigation that a 37-year-old man, in collusion with his 36-year-old friend and his cousin, conspired to steal property belonging to another individual. On February 3, 2020, around 5:00 PM, they traveled in a car rented by the 37-year-old man to the postal station located at 27 Sebastia Street, owned by Haypost LLC, and waited for customers to leave.
After the customers had exited, the two men entered the postal station. The 36-year-old man used an object resembling a firearm, previously obtained, to threaten the employees with violence endangering life and health, while the 37-year-old man brandished a knife he had earlier taken, demanding money from the staff. They took the cash and fled to a car parked at the back of the building.
Based on sufficient evidence collected, both the 37-year-old and 36-year-old men have been charged under Article 175, Part 2, Points 1 and 4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (robbery). They were placed under pre-trial detention as a precautionary measure. The investigation on these individuals has been concluded, and the criminal case has been submitted to court with an accusatory conclusion. The proceedings regarding the assisting individual have been separated and are ongoing.
