The Fire in Khosrov Forest Is Contained
The fire that broke out today in the Khosrov Forest State Reserve has been contained. David Grigoryan, the spokesperson for the Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Environment, reported this on his Facebook page.
“The fire spread over an area of 4-5 hectares. Preliminary data indicates that 50% of the vegetation in the affected area has been damaged. More than 40 employees of the reserve, around 25 from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and 5 from the World Wildlife Fund’s Armenia branch participated in the firefighting efforts,” wrote David Grigoryan.
According to Grigoryan, efforts are currently underway to extinguish the smoldering hotspots. The situation is under control, and damage assessment is ongoing.
