Cases of Residential Burglary and Attempted Burglary Uncovered

The investigative and procedural actions carried out at the Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee have uncovered cases of residential burglary and attempted burglary in the Gegharkunik region.

According to data obtained during the investigation, a 30-year-old man, in preliminary agreement with an unidentified accomplice, entered the courtyard of a house belonging to a resident of Yerevan in the Berdkunk community around 02:30 on December 11, 2019. They were masked and wearing gloves, intending to secretly appropriate someone else's property. When they attempted to open the balcony door through the residence, the security alarm system was activated, and due to unforeseen circumstances, they were unable to complete the crime and fled the scene.

Furthermore, after fleeing from the aforementioned residence, around 02:40 on the same day, they used a knife to open the window of a house in the Hayravank community, and the unidentified accomplice illegally entered inside, taking a video recording device, which the 30-year-old man transported in an "Opel Astra" vehicle, thus stealing the device.

Based on the gathered sufficient evidence, the 30-year-old man has been charged under Article 34-177 (attempted theft) part 3.1.1 and Article 177 (theft) part 3.1.1 of the RA Criminal Code. He has been placed in detention as a preventive measure.

The preliminary investigation concerning the 30-year-old has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion. The unidentified individuals who were in preliminary agreement with him have been separated and continued in a separate proceeding for further investigation.

Note: The suspect or accused in the alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code, through a legal court decision that has entered into force.
