Criminal Case Initiated Over Gathering Organized Near NSS Building
A criminal case has been initiated in relation to a gathering that was organized and held by a group of individuals near the administrative building of the National Security Service (NSS) at 104 Nalbandyan Street in Yerevan on June 14, 2020, despite the prohibitions established by law and the decisions of the Armenian government.
The group deliberately organized gatherings, closed Nalbandyan and adjacent Khanzadyan streets, disrupting traffic. This act was against the legal requirement of the police to maintain social distance aimed at preventing the spread of the new coronavirus pandemic and to cease the gathering.
The investigation is being conducted by the Serious Crimes Investigation Department of the Yerevan Investigative Division of the Investigative Committee of Armenia under Article 225.1, part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
“We simultaneously urge citizens to refrain from organizing and participating in gatherings during the state of emergency, to comply with the restrictions set forth by law and the decisions of the government, the violation of which can lead to criminal liability,” the statement said.
