SATMC Suspends Restaurant Operations for 72 Hours
The clear requirement of the RA Prime Minister's decision N63 is that events with participation of more than 5 people are prohibited in public catering facilities. This means that no type of celebration or gathering can be organized at any public catering point—such as weddings, engagement parties, birthdays, meetings, etc.—where the number of attendees exceeds 5.
The RA Food Safety Inspection Authority (SATMC), within the framework of its delegated powers, is actively pursuing the enforcement of the Prime Minister's decisions.
As of today, March 10, 2020, based on the protocols prepared by SATMC specialists, the operations of two restaurants in Yerevan and one restaurant in Shirak province have been suspended for 72 hours. These public catering establishments hosted large weddings.
Today, several other public catering organizations, sales points, shops, and production facilities have also been suspended for 24 hours.
In the framework of exercising control over the implementation of the Prime Minister's decisions, SATMC employees have continued large-scale inspections throughout the country. Following these ongoing monitoring activities, further suspensions will follow, as, although operators aim for a more careful and responsible approach, violations are still being permitted.
All sanitary-hygienic norms aimed at combating the coronavirus are mandatory for all operators without exception.
