Within the framework of the annual operational-preventive measure "Search-2020," thanks to the operational intelligence activities and explanatory work carried out by the criminal investigation department of the police of Yerevan and the Nor Nork subdivisions, a 34-year-old man living in Yerevan voluntarily surrendered to the Nor Nork police on June 1 at 5:15 PM. He had been wanted since April 20 on charges of murder, with the restrictive measure being detention.
It is recalled that on the evening of April 15, a deceased man with gunshot wounds was brought to the number 1 university hospital. The victim was a 39-year-old resident of Yerevan. He was transported from Bakunts Street in the capital. Officers from the Yerevan city police department, Nor Nork division, territorial investigative body, and other law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene where the deceased man's Lexus was found in an accident state, with traces of gunfire on the vehicle.
Approximately 300 meters away from the crashed vehicles, three spent 7.62 mm cartridges were discovered. It was established that gunfire had been directed at the Lexus driver near address 1 Bakunts Street. The man, who had sustained gunshot wounds, had managed to drive his vehicle for only about three hundred meters before the Lexus collided with a parked vehicle and came to a stop. Bystanders rushed to help and called for emergency services, but the injuries the 39-year-old man sustained were incompatible with life.
A criminal case was opened regarding the incident, and in the context of this case, criminal investigators from the Yerevan police department and Nor Nork division, in collaboration with the territorial investigative department, undertook complex operational and investigative measures. As a result of joint efforts, law enforcement officials identified the suspect in the murder by firearm.
A warrant was issued for the 34-year-old man residing in Yerevan, and police officers undertook operational measures and explanatory work that yielded results on June 1. The preliminary investigation of the initiated criminal case is ongoing.
