45-Year-Old Man Charged with Providing False Information to Civil Status Registration Authority

The investigation into a criminal case concerning the provision of false information to the Civil Status Registration Authority has concluded in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district of the Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee. Charges have been brought against a 45-year-old man from the Shengavit community. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.

It has been revealed that on October 16, 2019, the 45-year-old man, aiming to implement a prior agreement regarding the handover of a newborn child of a Yerevan resident to him and his wife, accompanied the Yerevan resident to the Kanaker-Zeytun territorial division of the Civil Status Registration Agency of the RA Ministry of Justice and provided obvious false information, claiming that he was the biological father of her newborn child.

The 45-year-old man was warned and provided with a document indicating that he could be criminally liable for providing false information. He signed the document, thereby reaffirming the authenticity of the information he provided.

Based on the combination of sufficient evidence, the 45-year-old man has been charged under Article 169¹ of the RA Criminal Code (providing false information to civil status registration authorities). A measure of restraint has been applied against him in the form of a pledge not to leave. The investigation has been completed.
