63-Year-Old Man Abuses Police Officers and Tears Off One's Shoulder Strap
A 63-year-old resident of Stepanavan has verbally abused police officers and torn off the shoulder strap of one of them while being taken in due to suspicions of illegally cutting down fir trees measuring approximately 60 cm in length. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.
On May 22, 2020, at around 08:50, while being taken from his trailer house in connection with the illegal cutting of shiny silver European firs in the administrative yard of the Stepanavan division of the Lori Regional Department of the Police, the man, under the influence of alcohol, began to argue with police officers carrying out their official duties. Despite the lawful requests to not interfere with their service and to calm down, the resident of Stepanavan verbally abused the officers and resorted to minor, non-life-threatening physical violence, hitting them with his hands and pulling off one officer's left shoulder strap.
In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated at the Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee under the first part of Article 316 of the RA Criminal Code (use of violence against a representative of authority). The police officers carrying out their duties have been recognized as victims. The 63-year-old man has been arrested. During the pre-trial investigation, investigative actions have been carried out, forensic, forensic medical, complex forensic examinations have been appointed, and several individuals have been interrogated. The investigation is ongoing,” the statement from the Investigative Committee reads.
