Wolves Cause Approximately 5 Million AMD Damage to a Farmer in Norakert
On the night of May 15, wolves attacked the livestock of Haikanush Melkonyan, a resident of Norakert village in the Gegharkunik region, killing about 122 sheep and lambs and injuring another 15. As a result, the damage to the farm is estimated to be around 5 million AMD.
Gerasim Sargsyan, the mayor of Norakert, informed Armenpress that the relevant act prepared by the local municipality has already been sent to the Gegharkunik regional administration. “The commission has calculated the extent of the damage caused to the agricultural farm, which amounts to about 5 million AMD. The corresponding act has already been submitted to the regional administration. The Norakert community will assist within its capabilities to restore the damage caused. Naturally, our resources are insufficient to provide such a level of support or to fully compensate for the damages incurred. We are now waiting to see what kind of assistance the government will provide,” said the community leader.
According to Hambartsum Hambartsumyan, the head of the agriculture and environmental protection department of the Gegharkunik regional administration, the act sent from the Norakert municipality has already been registered at the regional administration and will be submitted to the RA government for discussion in accordance with the established legal procedures and timelines.
