Video: Illegal Logging Cases Uncovered
On May 12, police officers from the Tumanyan division and employees of the Armenian Forests State Agency conducted a joint patrol in the administrative area of Shnogh community, where they stopped two "UAZ" vehicles belonging to local residents for inspection.
Each vehicle was found to contain one cubic meter of timber. The drivers did not present any documentation verifying the legality of the timber. They stated that the wood was theirs and that they had cut down trees from the Teghut forest, including hornbeams and other trees, using a chainsaw.
The vehicles loaded with timber were taken to a secured area of the Tumanyan police division. A specialist inspection has been initiated, and the extent of the damage is being assessed. Investigative materials are being prepared.
