Armed Incident in Shiraz Street, Yerevan Exposed; One Person Arrested
On May 12, 2020, at 23:25, a report was received regarding an argument and gunshots on Shiraz Street in Yerevan. An investigative operational group was immediately dispatched to the scene.
It was determined that at approximately 23:15, an altercation took place in the yard of one of the buildings on First Passage of Shiraz Street, during which gunshots were fired.
A criminal case has been initiated based on Article 258, Part 4 (hooliganism) and Article 235, Part 1 (illegal acquisition, selling, storing, transporting, or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives, or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
As a result of investigative actions and operational-search measures, the group of individuals involved in the incident was identified. One individual, a 30-year-old resident of Yerevan, has been located and arrested on suspicion of hooliganism.
A scene examination was conducted, during which traces resembling blood and a 9mm fired cartridge were discovered. Samples were taken, seizures were carried out, and forensic, DNA, and medical examinations were assigned. Approximately two dozen individuals have been interrogated.
The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are being undertaken to clarify all circumstances of the incident and ensure an objective and complete investigation.
