Husband Assaults Wife's Mother, Releases Dog on Her, Resulting in Wife's Death
The investigative department of the Lori regional investigative committee has uncovered several details surrounding the death of a 78-year-old resident of the village of Tsater. On May 10, 2020, at 00:40, a resident of Tsater reported that her husband had physically assaulted her mother multiple times at their home, subsequently releasing a dog on the elderly woman, who was then mauled to death.
Based on this incident, the police initiated a criminal case under Article 112 of the RA Criminal Code (deliberate causing of harm to health), specifically focusing on the 14th point of part 2. This case was handed over to the Tumanyan investigative division and accepted for proceedings.
It was determined that the 36-year-old man, motivated by a grudge formed due to disagreements with his mother-in-law, intended to unlawfully take her life during a personal dispute. He inflicted numerous blows on the head and various parts of her body with his hands and feet, causing polytrauma to the skull, neck, chest, and extremities. Then, to accomplish his criminal intent, he brought the shepherd dog from the yard into the house and ordered it to attack his mother-in-law. The dog subsequently bit her throat and shook her, leading to fatal injuries incompatible with life.
Investigative and other procedural actions have been carried out, with forensic examinations of the deceased's body and other relevant investigations commissioned. Based on sufficient evidence gathered, the 36-year-old man has been charged under Article 104 (murder) of the RA Criminal Code. A motion has been filed in court to apply detention as a preventive measure against him. The preliminary investigation continues, and measures are being implemented to clarify all circumstances of the incident.
