Ejmiatsin Resident Arrested on Suspicion of Murder and Attempted Murder of 29-Year-Old Fellow Citizen

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia's Armavir regional investigative department has reported that as part of the investigation into the murder and attempted murder that occurred in Armavir region on May 10, significant investigative and other procedural actions, as well as operational-search measures, were conducted. It was established that these crimes were allegedly committed by the same individual, whose identity has been clarified as a resident of Ejmiatsin city, born in 1975. He has been arrested.

Previously, it was reported that on May 10, 2020, at around 2:40 AM, an unidentified individual unlawfully entered a residence on Charentsi Street in Armavir city and, with a 16mm caliber hunting rifle in hand, fired a shot at the 29-year-old resident of the same house, intending to take his life. The perpetrator fled the scene. The victim died at the scene from the inflicted injuries. This information was provided by the information and public relations department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 104, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code (murder).

It was also reported that on the same day, between 5:00 AM and 5:30 AM, a 41-year-old man, noticing an unknown individual on his land in the administrative area of Geghakert village, attempted to clarify the reason for their presence. During this interaction, the unknown individual, with direct intent to unlawfully take life, inflicted knife wounds to the vital organs of the Geghakert resident, causing serious bodily harm, but for reasons beyond his control, did not complete the crime and fled.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 34-104, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code (attempted murder). Given that the aforementioned crimes were allegedly committed by the same individual, a decision was made to combine the criminal cases and continue the preliminary investigation in one procedure. Investigative and procedural actions are being carried out to clarify all circumstances of the case.
