Woman Was Asleep at Home: New Details on Tragic Incident
On May 5th, in the Malatia-Sebastia district of Yerevan, a 40-year-old man who threw himself and his children from the 9th floor had worked for several months at the Zeytun Municipality's museum after retiring. This was reported to NEWS.am by the building's authorized representative, Vahram Ayvazyan.
“These people have lived in this building since 1984; they were a normal family. He had married a normal woman and had two very good children. He was a very calm and normal guy as a person. They returned from Russia about a year ago, having stayed there for 3 to 4 years. He served in the Russian army and studied remotely. I have heard that after retiring, he worked at the municipality’s museum for several months, but had not worked in the last 3-4 months. He had no financial issues because he received a high pension. We haven’t heard any complaints regarding financial problems. He took good care of the children and was actively involved in their upbringing,” he said.
The building representative noted that the couple had not been divorced. “Well, it’s a family; maybe there was some kind of disagreement. How could they be divorced if they were living together? The child was going to school in the Kentron district, and they were taking and picking up the children. As far as I know, the woman did not work,” he said.
Ayvazyan reported that when the incident occurred, the woman was asleep and the police had to wake her up. “The woman was asleep. We knocked on the door so much with the police at around 7:30 AM until the woman woke up and opened the door. When the woman realized what had happened, she immediately got ill; she wasn’t aware of it either. Now the woman is at home with her brother and mother,” he stated.
