Father Initially Threw His Children from the 9th Floor: Investigative Committee Provides Details

On May 5, 2020, at 07:30, an unknown citizen reported that three people were lying on the ground in the yard of building 91 in the southwestern district B-2 of Yerevan, two of whom were children. The press service of the Investigative Committee of Armenia informed that an investigative-operational group immediately went to the scene and discovered the bodies of a man and young children in the yard of the building.

It turned out that one of the individuals found in the yard of the mentioned building was a resident born in 1980, and the young children were his children. A criminal case has been initiated in the investigative department of the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of the Investigative Committee of Armenia under Article 104 (murder) part 2 point 2 and Article 110 (inciting suicide) part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.

As a result of the measures taken, factual data emerged indicating that the man’s ex-wife and the children, the boy born in 2013 and the girl born in 2015, were staying at the mentioned address. According to the preliminary data obtained during the investigation, the father threw his children out of the window from the 9th floor of the building and then jumped himself.

Immediate investigative and other procedural actions were carried out, including an inspection of the scene, collection of samples, questioning of over twenty individuals, forensic examinations of the bodies were appointed, and several hypotheses were proposed. The pre-investigation continues.
