Criminal Case Launched Following Armed Robbery of Elderly Woman in Lori Province

On May 1, 2020, a 75-year-old resident of Lori Province reported that two masked individuals entered her home during the night and threatened her with a knife, stealing cash and a gold ring.

It was revealed that at around 1:00 AM on May 1, 2020, the two masked persons illegally entered the home of the elderly resident by opening the window in her bedroom. They attacked her, tied her hands with adhesive tape, and, using a knife as a weapon, threatened her with serious violence to her life and health, demanding gold jewelry and money.

Subsequently, they removed the gold ring from her finger, found and stole cash, a mobile phone, and a hunting smoothbore firearm from the house, before fleeing the scene.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Spitak Investigation Division of the Lori Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee under Part 2, Points 1, 3, and 4 of Article 175 (robbery) and Part 4, Point 2 of Article 238 (theft or extortion of weapons, military equipment, explosives, or explosive devices) of the RA Criminal Code.

During the pre-investigation, investigative and other procedural actions have been conducted, including an inspection of the crime scene, interrogations, and forensic examinations. Investigative actions and operational-search measures are underway to clarify all circumstances of the incident and to identify and locate the perpetrators.

The preliminary investigation continues.
