Berlin Residents Protest Against Quarantine, Police Detain 100 People

Hundreds of Berlin residents gathered today to hold a protest against the quarantine restrictions imposed by authorities in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, reports Regnum. The demonstration was intended to take place at Rosa Luxemburg Platz, but the police closed off access to the square. However, several hundred protesters managed to voice their demands to the authorities.

The main demand was the "restoration of constitutional rights." According to the protesters, the restrictions violate civil and economic rights.

Representatives from several political parties in Germany participated in the gathering. The protest was monitored by over 200 police officers. According to the German police, 100 individuals were detained for not adhering to social distancing measures.

Currently, there are 155,054 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Germany, with 5,767 deaths and 109,800 recoveries.
