Attack on Lawyer Seda Safaryan's Family
Last night, between 22:30 and 23:00, in the Mush neighborhood of Yerevan, a group of 5-6 unbalanced individuals assaulted the daughter of Constitutional Order Violation victim representative and lawyer Seda Safaryan, along with her son-in-law, his parents, and sister.
In an interview with A1+, Seda Safaryan stated that the assailants were a group of unruly individuals. According to her, they were shouting insults loudly at night, prompting her son-in-law to step outside to seek clarification as to why they were causing a disturbance.
“They attacked my son-in-law without any reason, just like that. I want to understand, if the problem was only with my son-in-law, why were the women also assaulted? I have seen so much hooliganism, but I have never seen anything like this. I am simply shocked,” Seda Safaryan said, adding that the attackers initially moved a bit away from the yard before continuing the assault to avoid being recorded.
Subsequently, the women attempted to intervene, but the situation escalated further. According to Seda Safaryan, even neighbors intervened, but they too were assaulted for getting involved. She stated that the wife of a former police officer who was present at the incident called the police; however, he called back and informed that everything had calmed down, and there was no need for officers to come to the scene.
The police claimed they were misled, which is why although they intended to arrive at the scene, they did not come and returned instead. They stated, “We could have arrested the attackers if the former police officer had not misled us,” Seda Safaryan recounted.
Until 03:00 in the morning, Seda Safaryan and her relatives were at the Shahumyan division of the police. According to her, during that time, the attackers were not identified, and their identities were not clarified. She mentioned that her relatives have not yet undergone medical examinations.
Seda Safaryan plans to return to the police shortly to find out what progress has been made in the case.
