High-achieving students already study for free: MP's proposal to the government
Karen Simonian, a member of the "Enlightened Armenia" faction, has proposed that when implementing the government's 14th measure regarding student tuition fees, the criterion of academic progress should not be considered, as all students face social challenges. He made this statement today, April 22, during his speech in the National Assembly.
"The criteria that are set, for example, high GPA and high academic achievement, are already benefiting individuals who study for free or receive significant discounts. However, those students who truly need discounts do not fall under that category. Secondly, mainly students from state universities can benefit from this, while there is no opportunity for private university students to access this program. I urge the government to review certain provisions and not to create discrimination. If we are providing support, let’s support all students, because everyone needs it, regardless of their academic performance," he emphasized.
