Body of 66-Year-Old Man Found Stabbed in Gegharkunik Home

On April 21, a brutal murder occurred in the Gegharkunik region. At approximately 13:50, the police department of Chambarak received a report that there was a man's body in one of the houses in the Vahan village of the enlarged Chambarak community. This was reported by Shamshyan.com.

Police and investigators found the body of 66-year-old Lyovik Barsaghyan inside his own home in Vahan village. The forensic doctor, who arrived at the scene, informed the police and investigators that there were signs of multiple stab wounds to the deceased’s head.

Within a short time, local police received operational information that a suspect was heading towards Sevan. They managed to apprehend the suspect, 62-year-old Petik Demirchyan, in the administrative area of Lchashen village together with the police and investigators from Sevan.

The law enforcement agencies acted correctly as the suspect was found to be in possession of two hand grenades with their detonators.

A criminal case has been initiated based on the decision of Nairi Poghosyan, the deputy head of the Sevan investigative department, under Part 1 of Article 104 and Part 1 of Article 235 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The suspect, Petik Demirchyan, has been arrested based on the investigator's decision.
