City Mayor's Spokesperson Received Higher Bonus than Health Department Head: Khajagyan

The spokesperson for the Mayor of Yerevan has received a bonus of 560,000 drams, the same amount awarded to the head of the social security department, whose work is indeed very demanding these days. This was stated today, April 15, by David Khajagyan, the head of the "Lus" faction in the Yerevan City Council, on his Facebook page.

He specifically noted: "By the respective order of the Mayor of Yerevan, several representatives of the staff were rewarded with a total of 29 million drams. Among others, the spokesperson was awarded 560,000 drams. The head of the social security department has also been awarded the same amount, whose work is truly overloaded during these days. I believe one of the reasons for the spokesperson's award is to cover up the consequences of the mayor's (in)activities on Facebook at all costs. Perhaps that is precisely why Marutyan believes that his spokesperson should receive the same bonus as the heads of departments. The mayor's legal advisor has also received the same amount, whose professional amateurism has led the municipality to face unfavorable judicial decisions that will soon manifest in the form of extensive damage compensations. The head of the health department, whose work is difficult to underestimate these days, has been awarded much less than the spokesperson.

Overall, the unjust distribution and selective approach towards employees have become a pattern. And why is this happening? Because for this government, the primary focus is not on the work itself, but rather on the impressions people have about it. If the public’s impressions are good, then the mayor can rest assured that the illusion of vigorous activity is secured."
