Government Draft Decision on Extending State of Emergency. Special Session of the National Assembly. Prime Minister's Instruction
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, a meeting was held at the government to coordinate the efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the Republic of Armenia.
Health Minister Arsen Torosyan summarized the statistics on confirmed cases of coronavirus in Armenia and provided information regarding the health status of the infected individuals.
Deputy Prime Minister and State of Emergency Commandant Tigran Avinyan addressed the strategy for combating the coronavirus. In particular, it was proposed to extend the state of emergency for another 30 days and to maintain existing restrictions on movement, public transport, and interregional travel, with corresponding decisions to be made by the commandant concerning the schedule.
Subsequently, questions were discussed regarding the restrictions on certain types of economic activities, the timeline for lifting those restrictions, and the action plan aimed at countering the spread of the virus.
Issues related to the organization of work in social, educational, cultural, and other sectors of public life were also addressed.
The Prime Minister instructed to present a draft government decision on extending the state of emergency, which, upon adoption, will convene a special session of the National Assembly by virtue of the Constitution.
